Hi there, I’m Jason Clarke!

The guy behind The Only Recipe

and I’m so glad you’re here!

Jason Clarke

I grew up in Canton, Ohio, where food is more than just something we eat. It’s how we take care of each other. Around here, you show up with a casserole when someone’s having a tough week, pass the biscuits at Sunday supper, and share second helpings like it’s a love language.

I didn’t go to culinary school. I learned to cook standing on a chair next to my mom, watching her turn butter, garlic, and whatever we had into something that made the whole house smell like comfort. We didn’t have fancy appliances or shelves full of cookbooks. Just a lot of heart, and that was always enough.

My mom used to say, “If you can feed folks and make ‘em smile, you’re doing something right.” That stuck with me. So even when life got busy with work, kids, and the everyday chaos that never seems to let up, I kept coming back to the kitchen. It’s the one place that always makes sense to me.

Why “The Only Recipe”?

Because that’s what I needed. Not ten versions of the same dish, but one that actually works on a Tuesday night. The kind of recipe you don’t have to second-guess. The kind you trust when everyone’s hungry, the day’s been long, and takeout isn’t in the cards.

Everything I share here is something I’ve cooked in my own kitchen. Usually more than once. Usually with a kid doing homework nearby and the dog waiting for something to hit the floor. I test my recipes until they taste just right. Nothing fancy. Just food that works, tastes good, and brings people together.

Real Life, Real Food

Most nights, I’ve got a coffee in hand and a notebook full of messy ideas. I still flip through my mom’s old recipe cards looking for that one thing that sparks something. And I still believe that the best meals aren’t the ones that impress. They’re the ones that feel like home.

If you’re looking for something honest, something comforting, and something that makes your kitchen smell like a warm hug, you’re in the right place.

Come on in. Let’s make dinner.
Warmly,
Jason
